Listen with classic vinyl, connect to Apple Music, or bring your own audio into My Files.

Imported music and the Artist experience

The four-chapter Artist experience is available for Apple Music catalog artists. It is not available for music imported through My Files, even after purchasing Full App Unlock.

That experience uses Apple Music’s artist information, top songs, albums and singles. Imported files can still be browsed by Songs, Albums and Artists using the information stored in your files. They do not create an Apple Music catalog artist page, a catalog top-songs list or a singles discography.

If you open Artist while playing an imported file, the app offers a route back to that artist’s music in My Files. Artist names or missing album information in your files may affect how your local collection is grouped.

How do I import my own music?

Open Collection → My Files → Add Music, then choose compatible audio files or a folder from the Files app. Files can come from On My iPhone or iPad, iCloud Drive, or another available Files provider.

The app copies selected audio into its local library. Allow files stored in the cloud to finish downloading when importing. Once imported, local playback does not require an Apple Music subscription or Full App Unlock.

Use audio that you own or are permitted to use. The app does not supply music or remove copy protection. Files protected by digital rights management may not be playable through My Files.

Why is artwork or an artist name missing?

My Files uses the metadata and embedded artwork available in the imported file. A filename alone may not include an artist, album or cover image. Check the file’s tags and embedded artwork in your music-management software, then import an updated copy if necessary.

What is free, and what requires Full App Unlock?

Free listening includes classic black vinyl with album artwork, a Bronze tonearm, Midnight or Platinum appearance, List browsing, ordinary artist album views, playback controls, queue management, shuffle, repeat and the sleep timer.

Full App Unlock is one permanent, non-consumable purchase. It adds the released premium player designs and customisation options, including CD, additional vinyl designs, labels, tonearms, colours, photos and effects. It also adds premium collection presentations, Home Screen widgets and connected-display Party Mode. Wall browsing is available on iPad. The four-chapter Artist experience uses Apple Music catalog data as explained above.

There is no recurring app subscription. The purchase screen displays Apple’s current price for your storefront. Ordinary future player designs and listening features added to this app are included in Full App Unlock.

Do I need an Apple Music subscription?

An eligible Apple Music subscription and Music access permission are required for Apple Music playback. Apple Music is a separate service and is not included in Full App Unlock.

You can play compatible imported audio through My Files without subscribing to Apple Music. Apple Music catalog availability can vary by artist, region and service availability.

How do I restore Full App Unlock?

Open Settings → Unlock Full App → Restore Purchases, or use Restore Purchases on the upgrade screen. Use the Apple Account associated with the original purchase. An internet connection may be needed to verify the purchase.

If the purchase is still awaiting approval, premium access becomes available after Apple confirms it. Contact support if a completed purchase cannot be restored. Do not send your Apple Account password or payment-card details.

How do I remove imported music?

Use Delete from My Files on the song’s menu or swipe action. This removes the imported copy from the app’s library. It does not delete the separate original file you selected when importing through Add Music.

Keep a separate copy of music you want to retain. Deleting the app can remove its local library and preferences; device backups depend on your system settings.

How does Party Mode work?

Party Mode requires Full App Unlock and a connected external TV or monitor. Once connected, choose the available TV presentation through the app’s settings. Ordinary listening does not require an external display.

Please include your iPhone or iPad model, iOS or iPadOS version, app version, and a brief description of what happened. Screenshots can help; remove anything personal before sending them. For import problems, tell us the file format and where the file came from. You do not need to send the song itself.
